Teachers

Jo Reynolds

I have over 10 years’ teaching experience and hold a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Brighton. This is where I learned to program video games and found the inspiration to create my most popular class, “Why Video Games Are Addictive”. I also use this knowledge in my classes on mobile phone addiction and how to stay safe on the internet.
I also teach Business and Finance Skills, Circus and Magic Skills including poi and staff spinning classes, as well as classes in how to play Chequers and Chess.
The main philosophy on which my teaching is based is that learning should be fun and relevant to the student. “If you have fun at work you never work a day in your life” is a motto I use daily! I absolutely love teaching people how to achieve this.
I look forward to teaching you – Find me on Outschool

Claire Derrick

Has over 6 years’ teaching experience and holds a BA (hons) in International Business & Marketing from the University of Greenwich, London, a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and is a qualified TEFL teacher. Claire is also a Black Belt practicing traditional Karate, and an assistant instructor for junior age groups. After many years working in industry and the Charity sector she now runs her own event management training company where she can combine her passion for events with her love of self development.
Claire teaches event planning, project management, teamwork and leadership skills in a series of engaging classes called The Big Bash Theory encouraging her students to apply these skills to organising their own party events and fundraising at school, and gets them to think about whether they want a career in marketing and event management. As a mother of two she totally buys into the idea that learning should be fun – what’s the point if it’s not?! As the American poet Alfred Mercier said “What we learn with pleasure we never forget.”
